After four weeks of close finishes, the DCHS Tigers enjoyed a breather Friday night winning 32 to 0 at Grundy County in Coalmont.
The Tigers improve to 2-3 on the season while Grundy County drops to 0-4.
All the scoring in the game came in the 1st half.
DeKalb County got on the board with 3:13 left in the 1st period as Quarterback Axel Aldino launched a pass to Isaac Knowles good for 36 yards and a score. Kicker Jasper Kleparek tacked on the extra point and the Tigers led 7-0.
DC got a safety with 10 minutes left in the 2nd period after Grundy County Quarterback Jacob Dixon was tackled in the endzone which put the Tigers on top 9-0.
Desmond Nokes scored on a 5 yard run with 7:06 left in the 2nd period capping a 33 yard drive. Kleparek added the extra point and DeKalb County led 16-0.
Aldino then found Nokes on an 8 yard touchdown pass with 2:45 left in the half capping a 60 yard drive. The PAT by Kleparek was good and the Tigers held a 23-0 lead.
DeKalb County got another safety with 2:20 left in the half after a high snap sailed over the Grundy County quarterbackâs head while in the shotgun formation extending the Tigers lead to 25-0.
The last score of the game came on a 12 yard touchdown pass from Aldino to T.J. Alexander with 1:02 left before halftime. The extra point by Kleparek was good and the Tigers went on to win 32-0
DeKalb County will travel to Cannon County Friday night, September 25. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. and WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
The Lions are 0-5 with losses to Walker Valley 39-0, Warren County 48-0, Sequatchie County 46-0, Community 28-20, and Upperman 48-6.
