Tigers and Lady Tigers Remain Undefeated

A barnburner in Smithville Tuesday night as the DeKalb County Tigers and Cannon County Lions slugged it out into double overtime before the Tigers prevailed winning 79 to 77. The Lady Tigers also won beating the Lionettes 78 to 69.

Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers are now 3-0 with a trip to Warren County next on the schedule Friday night, November 26. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. followed by the boy’s game. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.

The Tigers took a 17 to 10 lead over the Lions after the 1st period and held a 37 to 27 advantage by halftime. The Lions cut the Tiger lead to 50 to 48 at the end of the 3rd period and outscored DC by a bucket in the 4th period to send the game into overtime tied at 59. Each team scored 9 points in the first overtime and the game was tied at 68 heading into the second overtime. From there, the Tigers outscored the Lions 11 to 9 to claim a 79 to 77 victory.

Conner Close led the Tigers in scoring with 23 points followed by Robert Wheeler 16, Elishah Ramos 14, Jordan Young 11, Stetson Agee 10, and Brayden Antoniak with 5.

In the nightcap, the Lady Tigers took a 21 to 12 lead over Cannon County after the 1st period and led 39 to 26 at halftime and 55 to 42 after the 3rd period before going onto win 78 to 69.

Kadee Ferrell scored 34 points followed by Ella VanVranken with 20, Natalie Snipes 12, Dare Collins 7, Xharia Lyons 4 and Madison Martin with 1.
