Tiger Football Season Ends at Upperman in State Play-Offs

The State Football Play-Off run ended for the DeKalb County Tigers Friday night at Baxter with a 40 to 14 loss to the Bees in the second round. Isaac Knowles was responsible for both Tiger touchdowns and a 2 point conversion in the game.

The Tigers conclude the season at 7-5 while Upperman runs its record to 11-1 and will travel to Chattanooga Red Bank Friday night, November 19 in the Class 4A State Play-Off quarterfinals.

The Bees struck first scoring on a 1 yard touchdown run by Terrance Dedmon with 8:20 left in the 1st period. The PAT was good and Upperman led 7-0.

Jaxson Rollins extended the lead for the Bees on a 2 yard touchdown run with 11:56 left in the 2nd period. The PAT attempt was blocked but Upperman led 13-0.

The Bees got on the board again with 7:37 left in the 2nd period on a 36 yard touchdown run by Ty Dutchess. Dedmon then scored on the 2 point conversion and the Bees held a 21-0 advantage.

DeKalb County’s first points came with 2 minutes left in the half on a 1 yard touchdown run by Isaac Knowles. The PAT attempt was no good and the Tigers trailed at halftime 21-6.

Knowles again scored a touchdown for the Tigers, this one for 29 yards and he then converted the 2 point play to cut the Tiger deficit to 21-14.

Upperman answered on the ensuing kickoff as Jaxson Rollins raced 70 yards on the return for a touchdown. The PAT attempt was no good but the Bees were up 27-14 with 5:45 left in the 3rd period.

The Bees padded their lead with 3:35 left in the 3rd period on a 16 yard touchdown run by Rollins. The PAT was good and Upperman was on top 34-14.

The last score of the game came on a 7 yard touchdown run by Ty Dutchess with 9:43 left in the 4th period. The PAT attempt was no good but Upperman prevailed winning 40-14.
