Lady Tigers Improve to 10-2 with Win at Monterey, Tigers drop to 1-11

The DCHS Lady Tigers kept Monterey winless Tuesday night with a 78 to 34 victory against the Lady Wildcats on the road. The Tigers are still in search of their second win of the season with a 63 to 49 loss at Monterey.

The girls game was tied at 9 by the end of the 1st period but DeKalb County got hot in the 2nd period scoring 35 points to take a 44 to 17 lead by halftime. The Lady Tigers led 63 to 25 after the 3rd period and went on to win 78 to 34.

Lydia Brown scored 17, Kadee Ferrell 16, Mya Ruch 11, Emme Colwell 10, Megan Cantrell 9, Kenzie France 6, Joni Robinson 5, Mallori Hart 3, and Summer Crook with 1.

The Tigers trailed Monterey 19 to 7 after the 1st period, 37 to 21 at halftime, and 49 to 35 after the 3rd period before losing 63 to 49.

Josh Carlton 11, Dallas Cook 9. Evans Jones 8, Nathan Atkins 7, Noah Martin 4, Dakota White and Jordan Young each with 3 and Hayden Thomas and Brayden Antoniak each with 2.

The Lady Tigers improve to 10-2 while the Tigers drop to 1-11.

The DCHS teams will be heading in different directions for tournament play this week. The Lady Tigers will compete in the 19th Annual Smoky Mountain Classic Thursday through Saturday, December 20-22 at Gatlinburg Pittman High School. Their first game will be Thursday, December 20 at 4 p.m. eastern time against Clay County, Kentucky.

The Tigers will be competing in the Aflac Watertown Christmas Tournament Thursday through Saturday, December 20-22. Their first game will be Thursday against Forrest at 8:30 p.m. at Watertown High School. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
