The Lady Saints played host for the first round of the Upper Cumberland Middle School Soccer Conference last Monday in an elimination game against the visiting Algood Redskins.  After a back and forth game, Lady Saint Melanie Ortiz makes a great pass to Tatum Young as the Lady Saints strike first.  One goal was all that was needed as the defense led by Laila Clark and goalie Delia Quintero hold the visitors scoreless.  This was the first playoff victory in Lady Saints Soccer history.
The next night the Lady Saints took the long trek to Macon County to face the #2 seed in the Semi-Finals.  The Lady Saints struck first as Kendall Davis finished an early free-kick making the score 1-0.  Macon County would answer making the score 1-1 at the half.  Early in the second half, DMS was awarded a corner kick.  6th Grade Tatum Young had a great strike as Caroline Tobitt finishes the pass and put the ball in the back of the net.  For the next twenty minutes, Macon County’s offense was rolling.  The Lady Saints defense held tough as the game ended with a Lady Saint victory 2-1.
This victory punched the Lady Saints a ticket to face the undefeated Overton County Wildcats in the Championship game on Thursday night.  The championship game would be hosted by Prescott Middle.  The championship game started back and forth with both sides having scoring chances.  Overton strikes first as they take an early 1-0 lead to halftime. Early in the second half, DMS found themselves in an early 2-0 hole after a penalty in the 18-yard box that led to a PK.  The Lady Saints had some scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize as the game ended 2-0.
The Lady Saints end their season with a 9-3 conference record and 2nd place out of 10 teams and the first Lady Saints team to bring home some hardware.
