Four runs batted in from Derek Young helped lead the DeKalb County Tigers past Upperman 11-1 on Monday. Young drove in runs on a single in the 1st, a single in the 3rd, and a single in the 4th.
DeKalb County scored 11 runs on 12 hits and made 4 errors. Upperman scored 1 run on 3 hits and made no errors.
The Tigers scored 1 run in the 1st, 2 runs in the 2nd, 4 runs in the 3rd, 3 runs in the 4th, and 1 run in the 5th inning. The Bees scored 1 run in the 4th inning.
The Tigers opened up scoring in the 1st inning when Young singled on a 3-1 count, scoring 1 run.
DeKalb County tallied 4 runs in the 3rd inning. The offensive firepower was led by Young, Colter Norris, and Daniel Pucket, who all drove in runs.
Logan Cornelius was on the mound for the Tigers. He lasted 4 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 run while striking out 5 and walking none. Patrick Cantrell came in for 1 inning and gave up 2 hits and struck out 1.
DeKalb County hit 2 home runs on the day. Cody Antoniak had a homer in the 2nd inning. Isaac Knowles also went deep in the 2nd inning.
For the game Derek Young had 3 hits and 4 RBI, Colter Norris with 2 hits and 2 RBI, Daniel Puckett with 1 hit and 2 RBI, Isaac Knowles with 2 hits and 1 RBI, Cody Antoniak with 1 hit and 1 RBI, and Grayson Redmon, Skylar Sparks, and Logan Cornelius each with 1 hit.
