Ms. Billie Burton Cook age 92 of Smithville and a long-time resident of Liberty, passed away Wednesday afternoon December 9, 2020 at The Webb House in Smithville. She was born February 11, 1928 to her parents, the late Hershel and Artie Cantrell Burton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyte Cook; daughter, Tammy Knowles; 2 sisters, Louise Burton Evans and Johnnie Burton Hobson. Billie was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church and worked at Timers, Westinghouse and the shirt factory. She leaves to cherish her memory a son-in-law, Kenneth Knowles of Smithville; granddaughter, Hillary Knowles of Smithville; 2 great-grandsons, Gunner Barfield-Knowles and Teagan Agee; special niece, Gina Jennings Denman of Smithville and niece, Cynthia Hobson Shannon of Huntsville; nephew, Randy Hobson of Fayetteville, TN. Funeral services will be 2PM Friday, December 11, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. Due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, we ask for the health and safety of everyone that you please exercise social distancing. Our pews are marked off to respect these guidelines and allow 100-125 people for the service. The funeral home lounge is closed at this time and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Salem Cemetery or Smithville First Baptist Church, in memory of Ms. Billie. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
