John Lawrence Dyess age 68 of Liberty, passed away Friday morning, July 3, 2020 at his home. He was born January 2, 1952 to his parents, the late John Lawrence and Kathleen Maddox Dyess, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John “Casey” Dyess. He was a faithful and active member of the Dowelltown Baptist Church, he managed his family’s orange grove and owned a nursery. John loved nature and fishing and spending time with his friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Dyess of Liberty; son, Jason (Jeni) Dyess of LaBelle, FL; daughter, DoriAnn (Cy) Clayton of Savannah, GA; 4 grandchildren, Drew (Lauren) Dyess of Sarasota, FL, Dean, Daxtyn and Donovan Clayton all of Savannah; 2 great-grandchildren, William and Ben Dyess; 2 sisters, Carol Thomas of Five Points, AL and Peggy (Jerry) Hampton of LaBelle, FL. The family has chosen a direct cremation. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 6:PM at Dowelltown Baptist Church with Bro. Thomas Hale officiating. His cremains will be buried with his son in LaBelle, FL. Visitation will be Tuesday 4:PM until the time of the service at 6:PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dowelltown Baptist Church. Mrs. Marry would like to express her appreciation to their dear friends, church family, Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Avalon Hospice for the love and care shown to her and John during this time. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
