James Doil (J.D.) Vantrease age 85 of Alexandria, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 28, 2021 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. Born Sept. 15, 1936 in Alexandria, he was the son of the late Doyle Vantrease and Ada Vantrease Willoughby. J.D. was a graduate of Liberty High School and served in the National Guard. He was a retired cabinet maker and former operator of Clara’s Dairy Mart in Alexandria. J.D. was the last surviving Charter Member of the Upper Helton Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and Sunday school teacher. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clara Lee Winfree Vantrease; daughters, Carol Tate and her husband, Bill of Sparta and Vivian Campbell and her husband, Tex of Alexandria; granddaughters, Lacy Hall and her husband, Bradley of Alexandria and Tera Campbell of Cookeville; great grandchildren, Mia and Noah Hall. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2021 at Upper Helton Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Arms, Bro. Thurman Seber and Bro. David Revelle officiating.
