Dianna Kay Phillips

Dianna Kay Phillips age 54 of Watertown and Smithville, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 4, 2023 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville. Born Aug. 29, 1969, Dianna was the daughter of the late Paul Edward Phillips and Wanda Lasater Phillips and was preceded in death by a brother, Chris Phillips. Dianna was a 1987 graduate of Watertown High School and an infant care worker at La Petite in Mt. Juliet. She was a member of Round Lick Baptist Church. Dianna is survived by her brothers, Troy and Jeff Phillips; niece, Kaitlyn Stillwell (Naaman); nephews, Dalton Phillips (Kelsey) and Justin Redmon (Ashton); great nieces and nephews, Cheyenne, Gabriel, Tristan, Eli, Bryson, MacKenzie, Conner, Chandler, Emmett and Everett; sisters-in-law, Kathy Redmon Phillips and Cindy Phillips and a number of step nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023 at Hunter Funeral Home with Carl Russell officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and Noon till service time on Wednesday. Interment will be at Jones Hill Cemetery. To honor Watertown tradition you are asked to wear the color purple at Dianna’s services. Sharon Anita Bates

Sharon Anita Bates age 63, of Morrison, passed away Friday October 6, 2023, at her residence. She was born May 9, 1960, to her parents the late, Charlie Oneal and Myrtle Myers Glenn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandson, Bentlee Bates; 3 brothers, Joe Scott, Charles Glenn, Bobby Glenn; 1 sister, Patsy Glenn. Mrs. Bates was of the Baptist faith and worked in Nursery. She is survived by her husband, Hareld Bates of Morrison; 4 children, Tim (Keri) Bates, and Bobby Bates both of Morrison, Robbie (Heather) Bates and Joanna (Jacob) Hubbard both of McMinnville; 10 grandchildren and 1 soon arriving, 1 great-grandson and 1 soon arriving; 1 sister Betty Jo Taylor of McMinnville. Graveside Service and interment will be held 1:PM Tuesday October 10, 2023, at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Viola, TN with Bro Jeff Vandagriff officiating. There will not be any services held at the funeral home, family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the service at 1: PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.




Debra Sue Shattuck

Debra Sue Shattuck age 68 was born December 5, 1954, in Buffalo, NY to her parents, the late Harry Irvin and Helena Elizabeth Love Mingle and departed this walk of life peacefully on Wednesday night September 27, 2023, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville. She was a seamstress and enjoyed making hats and a member of the Snow Hill Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Shattuck and sister, Judy Love. She leaves to cherish her memory, son, Steven Shattuck of Pennsylvania; sister, Patricia Page of New York; granddaughter, Gabrielle; host of nieces and nephews and her church family at Snow Hill Methodist Church with Pastor Kenneth Clayton. The family has honored Mrs. Shattuck’s request to be cremated and a Celebration of Service will be held 11:AM Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Snow Hill Methodist Church with Bro. Kenneth Clayton officiating. Inurnment will follow in Snow Hill Methodist Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Snow Hill Methodist Church, Jada Shinkle and Patricia Zornow for the love and support shown to Mrs. Debra. Mildred “Bill’ Poss

Mildred “Bill’ Poss age 82 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 4, 2023, at Centennial Medical Center. She was born May 19, 1941, to her parents, Albert and Flora Trusty Hooper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lane Poss; siblings Maureen Florida, Eugene Hooper, Milas Hibdon, Peggy Blish Parsley, Doris Cripps, Hoyte Hooper and Faye Trotter. Bill was a member of Bright Hill Church and was a homemaker, but the thing she was most proud of was being a wife, mother, mimi and sister. She loved her family, friends and even those she met the first time. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 63 years, WJ Poss of Smithville; 3 children, John (Lori) Poss, Jim (JJ) Poss and Dana (Travis) Franklin all of Smithville; 5 grandchildren, Corey (Erin) Poss, Bethany Poss, Whitney (Cameron) Lester, Lane (Madison) Poss and Tanner Poss (Lexi Roller); Laney and Sutton Poss and Oakleigh Lester; 2 sisters, Dean Johnson of Smithville and Sue Banker of Sparta; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Janet Greer and Brenda Cripps. Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, October 8, 2023, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 3 PM until 6 PM and Sunday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Bright Hill Church, Whorton Springs Cemetery or the charity of your choice. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Roger Dale Culwell

Roger Dale Culwell, 65 of Cookeville, Tennessee passed from this life on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at NHC Healthcare Cookeville.

Roger was born Thursday, July 31, 1958, in Nashville, Tennessee, and he was the son of the late Boyd Lige Culwell and Linda Kay (Matthews) Culwell.

Roger was a loving son, brother, husband, father, Papa, uncle, and friend. He loved anything cowboy, and he was an evangelist and felt called to reach people for God.

Roger is survived by, 3 Daughters, Nickie Rogers and her husband, Keith, Carla Bundrant and her husband, Doug, and Regina Geer and her husband, Kyle; 8 Grandchildren, Breanna Short and her husband, Joey, Jake Rogers and his wife, Makayla, Trey Bundrant and his wife, Ashlynn, Andrew Bundrant, Mary Grace Bundrant, Alyssa Geer, Jenna Geer, Lakyn Geer, and Bretton Geer; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Emerson Bundrant, and Mallory Rogers; Mother, Linda Culwell; Sister, Debra Bates; Brother, Jon Culwell; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

In addition to his father, Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Culwell; 2 Brothers, Jimmy Ray Culwell, and Timothy Lynn Culwell.

Graveside Service for Roger Dale Culwell will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 11:00 am at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Cookeville, TN. 38501, with Bro. John Pippin officiating. Interment will follow the service.

Bobby Earl Cook

October 4, 2023

Mr. Bobby Earl Cook, age 79 of Liberty, passed away Tuesday night at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was a self-employed farmer.

Mr. Cook was born on March 17, 1944 in Liberty. His parents were Palmer and Maggie Bell Herman Cook who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by 1 brother, Roger Cook.

Visitation with the Cook family will be on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 and on Friday from 10:00 until the service at 1:00 in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include two sisters, Betty Owen and Kathy (Jerry) Cook all of Woodbury, 1 brother, John Cook of McMinnville, nieces and nephews also survive.
