Eddie “Ed” Atnip

Mr. Eddie “Ed” Atnip, age 60 of Smithville passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 22nd at his residence.
Eddie was born November 19, 1959 in Lebanon to his parents, Roscoe & Reba Lonell Anderson Atnip. He was formerly employed at Tennaco and attended the Peoples Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 6pm from the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, Feb. 23rd from 10am until the service time at 6pm.

Mr. Atnip was preceded in death by his Father, Roscoe Atnip and a brother, Randy Atnip. Survivor include his Mother: Reba Atnip of Smithville. Children: Adam Atnip, Jason Atnip, and Charlie Atnip of Putnam County, Amanda and Jonathon Rice of DeKalb County, Randi and Jimmie Dossett of Wilson County. Grandchildren: Fantasia Atnip of Indiana, Braylyn Rice and Lailynn Rice of DeKalb County, Zayden Dossett of Wilson County, and Adalynn Atnip of Putnam County. Brothers: RJ and Susie Atnip of Murfreesboro, Jerry and Betty Atnip, Ricky and Ally Atnip, Teddy and Lorrie Atnip, Freddy and Vickey Atnip, and Michael and Amy Atnip, all of Smithville. Sisters: Lou Dean Murphy of Murfreesboro, Rose Atnip and Ernie, Mary Roller, and Racheal Mabe and Aron, all of Smithville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Kobe Bryant Allen

Kobe Bryant Allen age 31 of Coalmont, TN and McMinnville native, passed from this life on Tuesday night, February 18, 2020 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. Kobe was born May 9, 1988 in McMinnville, TN. He was preceded in death by his birth Father, Tommy Basham and birth Mother, Patsy Hobbs, also his maternal grandfather, Bro. Jerry Smith; paternal grandfather, Steve Allen; great-grandfather, John Allen. He was a member of the Edge Worship Center and a welder at MPC in McMinnville. Survivors include his wife, Amanda Allen of Smithville; 5 children, Jordyn Allen of McMinnville, Kami-Jo Allen, Isaac Allen, Alyssa Owen and Izzie Allen all of Smithville; parents, Sammy and Sonja Smith Allen of Smithville; maternal grandmother, Sarah Smith of Brush Creek; Paternal grandparents, Karen Nunley of Palmer, TN, Charles (Brenda) Cook of Tracy City, TN and Judy Allen of Dowelltown; siblings, Dante (Deborah) Allen of Manchester, Jarrica Haynes of Coalmont, Josh (Tabitha) Adcox of Tullahoma, Matthew Adcox of Smithville, Karah Brown of Lafayette, Lauren Allen (Ricky Miller) of Sparta, Gracie Allen (Jacob Lowery) of Manchester, Jayce (Destini) Allen of Cookeville, Elijah Allen of Smithville, Eliza Allen of Smithville and Dakota Allen of Smithville; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services celebrating the life of Kobe will be 2 P.M. Monday, February 24, 2020 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Charles Crook and Sammy Allen officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery with Bro. Shane Smith officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday 2 P.M. until 5 P.M. and Monday 11:AM until the time of the service at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. Any additional donations that exceed funeral costs will go to Lighthouse Children’s Camp. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.




Johnathan Kyle Turner

Mr. Johnathan Kyle Turner, 32, passed away Monday February 17, 2020 in Smithville, Tennessee. He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on April 30, 1987.

He attended Sink Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sheena Turner; mother, Michell Barks (Randy) Tucker; son, Mikai Turner; daughters, Jerica Kilgore and Serenity Turner, Cassie Elizabeth Brady; step-children, David, Kaylee and Hannah George; brothers, Derick (Tisha) Barks and Chris Turner; nieces and nephews, Raelynne Barks, Katelyn and Kaine Shields, Brayden Turner, Leigha, D.J. and Devin Green, Levi Sullivan and Aubree Bain.

Doyle Hi Christian

February 20, 2020

83 year old Doyle Hi Christian of Woodbury went on to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was born September 29th, 1936 in DeKalb County and married the love of his life on October 28, 1955 in Smithville. He was a trader, farmer, and logger for over 40 years before his retirement. More importantly he was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.

Doyle was saved and served the Lord with all his heart. Doyle loved his family and was a wonderful provider for them throughout his life. He could often be found on the farm, in the woods, or trading. Doyle was a quiet man that used the sunrise as his alarm clock. Though he said little, his life led his family by example and his actions spoke volumes.

Mr. Christian loved life and enjoyed being in nature. Throughout life, he made many friends at livestock barns and trading adventures. Doyle had an amazing smile and contagious laughter that would make people want to be around him. Doyle was an honest, hard-working man that his family loved and will be reunited with one day in heaven.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 1pm from the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. David Dodd will officiate with burial to follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, February 22nd from 11am-8pm and Sunday, February 23rd from 10am until the service time at 1pm.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a Daughter, Reba Provins. 2 Grandchildren, Gary Mitchell Fleet & Candy Annette Fleet. Sisters, Elizabeth Davis, Evangeline Hood, Margaret Fields, Pauline Elrod, Maggie Wheeler. Brothers, James, Erbie & Eugene Christian. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jessie Ramsey Christian of Woodbury. 2 Daughters, Linda & George Tripp of Liberty & Sally Sullivan of Bonecave. 5 Grandchildren, Paula Davis of Woodbury, Heidi Herman of Woodbury, Angela Georgette Tripp of Liberty, Sara & Brandon Johnson of Chattanooga, Cassie Leigh Tripp of Liberty. 6 Great Grandchildren, Lydia Danielle & Eric Cantrell of Lebanon, Katelyn Alysia Carr of Chattanooga, Christian Aron Trail of Liberty, Brady Doyle Davis of Murfreesboro, Oliver Johnson & Zayne Johnson both of Chattanooga. Corbin Eudene Keith

Corbin Eudene Keith age 88 of Smithville passed away Thursday night, February 13, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 5, 1931 in Smithville. He was preceded in death by his mother, O’Fallon Keith Pack; wife, Marine Hill Keith; son, Dennis Layne Keith. Mr. Corbin was a member of the Outreach Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran with 27 years of service and worked at Pirtle Nursery and Bouldin & Lawson in McMinnville. He is survived by 2 daughters, Kathy (Phil) DeBord of Smithville and Janda (Joshua) Hendrixson of Smithville; special granddaughters, Lori Keith of Lebanon and Stephanie Davis of McMinnville; 3 grandchildren, Cara (Shaun) Everson of Ft. Hood, Texas, Jason (Rachel) DeBord of Lawton, OK, Crystal (Billy) Sandell of Cookeville; 12 great- grandchildren, Shea (Justin) Foster of Smithville, Arrion (Emily) Matthews of Smithville, Arianna Matthews of Cookeville, Alanna (Brandon) Jones of Baxter, Lance Curtis of McMinnville, Kaleb Everson of Ft. Linda Garnett Landahl

Mrs. Linda Garnett Landahl age 77 of Smithville, TN, died Friday, February 07, 2020, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, TN. She was born in Woodbury, TN on April 03, 1942, was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Landahl was preceded in death by her parents Dixie Denby and Rebecca Elizabeth Gunter Hale, husband Robert Benjamin Landahl, sons Michael Joe Hildreth and Steven Bradley Hildreth, and brother Jerry Denby Hale.

Survivors include her daughter Tammy Burton, grandchildren Travis Davenport, Justin Davenport, Kristy Stubblefield, Taran Hildreth, Kaylan Hildreth, Matthew Hildreth, and Brandy Chantelle, great grandchildren Madeline Stubblefield, Olivia Grace Davenport, and Emily Faith Davenport, and niece Leslie Crabtree. Many family friends also survive.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 P.M. Sunday, February 16, 2020, at Barren Fork Baptist Church. Bro. Dave Dawson will officiate.
