A drug bust overnight Tuesday resulted in the arrest of two suspected dealers found with illegal narcotics including Heroin, Methamphetamine, Suboxone, Ecstasy, Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Arrested were 26 year old Logan Nicole Sullivan at 402 South Mountain Street, Smithville and 30 year old James Arnold McKeown, Jr. of 182 E.H. Haas Road, Dowelltown.

Detectives and officers of both the DeKalb and Smith County Sheriff’s Departments along with TBI agents went to the homes of both Sullivan and McKeown simultaneously with search warrants in hand as a result of a joint investigation between the two sheriff’s departments into the illegal sales of drugs in both counties.

The search of Sullivan’s home yielded 0.4 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be Heroin, a large bag containing a crystal like substance thought to be Methamphetamine which weighed 15.4 ounces, three pieces of a peach colored pill believed to be Suboxone, and a small baggie of a crystal like substance weighing 0.9 grams thought to be Meth, a pistol, and various drug paraphernalia including glass pipes, straws, and baggies.

Found at McKeown’s home were an estimated 500 pills of Ecstasy, 1.9 ounces of Methamphetamine, one gram of Heroin, 6 grams of Marijuana, digital scales, a large quantity of baggies, pipes, syringes, and other drug paraphernalia, $5,857 in cash, along with a pistol and three long guns. The money and guns were seized.

Sullivan is charged with sale of a schedule I drug (Heroin); simple possession of schedule III drug (Suboxone); possession of a schedule II drug (Methamphetamine) with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver; and possession of a schedule VI drug (Marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond is $43,500.

McKeown’s charges are sale of a schedule I drug (Heroin); possession of a schedule II drug (Methamphetamine) with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver; possession of a schedule VI drug (marijuana); possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of schedule I drug (Ecstacy). His bond is $71,500.

Both Sullivan and McKeown will be in General Sessions Court on the charges April 22.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said with the use of Heroin laced Fentanyl on the rise, his department is redoubling its efforts to get drug dealers off the streets.

“One of the drugs we see coming in now is Heroin and a lot of it is laced with Fentanyl. We see a lot of people overdosing on Fentanyl and we are trying our best to stay ahead of the game to take more dealers such as these two people (Sullivan and McKeown) off the street. We want to thank the Smith County Sheriff’s Department for working closely with us in helping execute these search warrants along with the TBI. This investigation is one of many we will be doing in the near future. We also want to thank Central Dispatch and EMS for their assistance Tuesday night. EMS staged close by both locations where the search warrants were executed and dispatch had a helicopter on standby in case of any emergencies,” said Sheriff Ray.
