Tallent Gets Probation for Aggravated Burglary

Sentences were handed down Thursday in DeKalb County Criminal Court against four people charged in various crimes.

57-year-old Marty Tallent entered a plea to aggravated burglary and received a three-year sentence all suspended to probation. The sentence is to run concurrently with his probation in a Warren County TDOC sentence against him. Tallent was given jail credit of 415 days.

According to the charge, Tallent entered a habitation on May 27, 2023 with the intent to commit a felony, theft, or assault.

22-year-old Jada Beth Butcher entered a plea to sale of schedule II drug (methamphetamine) under 0.5 grams and received a four-year sentence all suspended to supervised probation. She was fined $2,000. Butcher was given credit for time served.

51-year-old Keith MacWilliam Byers entered a plea by criminal information to reckless endangerment and received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days suspended except for 48 hours to serve. He was fined $350 and must attend an alcohol safety education program.

According to the charge, Byers unlawfully and recklessly engaged in conduct on August 12, 2022 which placed or may have placed another person in imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury.

27-year-old Haley Jada Sosa entered a plea by criminal information to reckless driving and received a sentence of five months and twenty-nine days under supervised probation.

According to the charge, Sosa did unlawfully drive an automobile on September 16, 2021 in a reckless manner and in willful and wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.
