Smithville Police have charged a man with aggravated assault for threatening a woman with a knife.
37 year old Rickey Lynn Martin of Smithville will make a court appearance on August 9th. His bond is $35,000.
Police responded to 634 Restview Avenue for a domestic call on July 28 and spoke with the victim who reported that Martin had forced his way into her home, ransacked the house, and held a knife to her throat while threatening to kill her if she did not shut up. Martin had left the scene before police arrived but he was later found and taken into custody.
29 year old Anthony Charles Miller of Green Bay Wisconsin was cited on August 1 for vandalism. Miller was spotted on Wal-Mart surveillance video pulling a 49″ T.V. off a display shelf and dropping it onto the floor. He then kicked the television. Police learned that Miller committed the act because he thought the television was too loud. His court date is August 23.
48 year old Royce Avon Foster of 4922 Jacobs Pillar Road was arrested on July 14 for public intoxication. Police responded to 506 South College Street due to a report of someone in the woods yelling for help. Upon arrival the officer spotted Foster walking out of the woods. Foster was talking out of his head and acting as if he was hallucinating. Foster seemed to think he had parasites crawling all over him although the officer could not see anything crawling on him. Foster was placed in custody for his safety and that of the public. Bond for Foster is $2,500 and his court date is August 9.
43 year old Travis James Beal was arrested on July 17 for public intoxication. Police responded after receiving multiple complaints about a man passed out in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Upon arrival the officer found Beal sitting on the sidewalk leaning up against a light pole next to the road. Beal had an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. His speech was slurred. His eyes were glossy and he had a hard time answering the officer’s questions. Beal was taken into custody for his safety and that of the public. Beal’s bond is $2,500 and his court date is August 16.
29 year old Raymond Howard Rollins of 186 Village Place was arrested on July 18 for domestic assault. According to police, Rollins punched his victim in the face while the two were in an altercation over a minor child. The victim suffered a pump knot and bruising on her right eye. Bond for Rollins is $4,500 and his court date is August 9.
29 year old David Braxton White was cited for vandalism on July 19. Police responded to Bell Street Apartments on July 18 in reference to vandalism. Officers were informed that White had broken a window in one of the apartments. After a further investigation, White was cited. His court date is August 9.
21 year old Bobby Wayne Dillon Hicks was cited for trespassing on July 21. Police observed Hicks sitting in the parking lot of Hardees loitering. Hicks had been informed not to be hanging out in the parking lot. His city court date is August 7.
39 year old Jeremy Vaughn of Sparta was cited on July 23 for simple possession. Vaughn was detained for an investigation and a police search of his person revealed in his front right pocket approximately 8 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. His court date is August 9.
57 year old Donald Gene Rigsby of 252 Bethel Road was arrested on July 25 for DUI and he was cited for violation of the implied consent law. While on routine patrol an officer spotted a vehicle parked in the roadway behind Bill Page ball park. The driver, Rigsby was passed out behind the steering wheel and the key was in the ignition. Rigsby also had an open beer between his legs and an odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person. He was asked to step out of the automobile and to submit to several field sobriety tasks. After performing poorly on those tasks, Rigsby was arrested for DUI. Police also secured a warrant to obtain a blood sample after he refused to submit to the implied consent law. Bond for Rigsby is $3,000 and his court date is August 9. The following day, July 26 Rigsby was cited for violation of the open container law. Rigsby had parked his vehicle on the side of Holmes Creek Road and was asleep behind the steering wheel with the key in the ignition and an open beer between his legs. He submitted to field sobriety tasks. His court date is August 9.
44 year old Theresa Ann Burnette was arrested on July 25 for public intoxication and she was cited for simple possession and criminal trespassing. Police responded to the health department at 254 Tiger Drive in reference to a trespasser. Upon arrival, the officer observed the suspect, Burnette prowling through the trash cans. He confronted Burnette but found that she was not making sense in her conversation and that she kept changing her stories. Burnette appeared disoriented. Her speech was slurred and she exhibited jerking movements consistent with drug use. About an hour before the police arrived, Burnette had been asked by an employee of the Health Department to leave the property but she didn’t go. A search incident to arrest revealed one 6 sided orange pill believed to be suboxone and a hypodermic needle in her purse. Bond for Burnette is $1,500 and her court date is August 9.
28 year old Steven J. Clark of Liberty was arrested on July 26 for public intoxication. Police responded to Food Lion due to a man sitting on a bench outside of the store going in and out of consciousness and saying weird things. Police made contact with the man found to be Clark and he had an odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person. Clark’s speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet. Police learned that Clark had been drinking beer and had nowhere to go. He was arrested for his safety and transported to the Smithville Police Department. Bond for Clark is $1,500 and his court date is August 9.
47 year old John Thomas Bailey of 3477 Short Mountain Highway was cited for simple possession on July 26. Bailey was arrested for violation of probation and failure to appear. A search incident to arrest revealed one white pill believed to be hydrocodone in his right front pocket. Bailey informed the officer that he had a prescription but he could not provide it at the time of the incident. Bailey’s court date is August 9.
53 year old Rickey Lee Shehane of 309 Wade Street was arrested on July 27 for resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search and he was cited for simple possession. Police responded to 312 Wade Street in reference to two men arguing in the street. As the officer turned on Wade Street Shehane spotted the patrol car and took off running. The officer got out of the car and followed on foot yelling “stop Rickey, Police” but Shehane continued to run toward Jackson Street. Police caught up with Shehane at 306 Jackson Street and placed him in custody. A search incident to arrest revealed a metal container in his right front pocket that held two pills believed to be Tramadol Hydrochloride 50 milligram. Shehane had no prescription for the pills. His bond is $3,000 and his court date is August 16.
27 year old Jacob Randall Lawrence of 215 Jennings Lane was cited for simple possession or casual exchange on July 29. A resident of the home found 5 xanax bars in Lawrence’s prescription bottle for suboxone. Upon investigation police discovered that Lawrence had purchased the pills in McMinnville on July 28 after he couldn’t find his other medication. Lawrence’s court date is August 16.
