Lori Panter was promoted recently to Director of Nursing at NHC HealthCare in Smithville and will oversee the clinical operations of patient services. Prior to her promotion, she served as Assistant Director of Nursing with NHC.

Panter, who has been a nurse for more than 17 years, has served in a variety of leadership roles in post-acute health care, including home health.

“I have worked at this center for 11 years,” she said. “I am proud to serve alongside our exceptional team of nurses and CNAs. The quality of care here, with the guidance of our physicians and support of our fellow partners, is why patients at NHC Smithville enjoy great outcomes.”

NHC Smithville has a 5-star rating from CMS and consistently ranks among the top NHC centers in customer satisfaction company-wide.

“Lori is a great leader and models the values of NHC,” Administrator Ryan Vaden said. “We are excited to see the impact she will have on our patients’ quality of life in her new role.”

Panter received an Associate of Science in Nursing in 2011 from Motlow State Community College while working for NHC; the company awarded her a scholarship in recognition of her contributions to patient care.

A Dekalb County native, she has been married to her husband, Tim, for 24 years and has two children. She also has one grandchild.

Panter takes over for Molly Merriman, who remains with NHC in a different capacity.
