Helping the Homeless in DeKalb County!
A non-profit organization called “Live and Let Live” will be hosting a fundraiser Saturday, March 16 at the DeKalb County Community Complex with food followed by a gospel singing worship service featuring “Right on Time”.
Food will be served from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and tickets will be sold at the door. Two meal options will be available including $10 dollars for a Fireman One Barbeque plate which will include a barbeque sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, cookie, and a canned drink or water or a $5 dollar hotdog plate which will include chips, cookie, and a drink.
Tables will be set up during the meal for distribution of general information including ways to donate and volunteer in support of Live and Let Live.
After the meal at 6 p.m. event organizers will provide a brief update on the mission of Live and Let Live and the homeless shelter it operates.
The singing service with “Right on Time” will begin at 6:30 p.m.in the auditorium of the Mike Foster Multipurpose Center. This is intended to be a worship service. There is no admission charge to attend the singing, but donations will be accepted. You are welcome to attend just for the meal, just for the singing, or both.
The goal of Live and Let Live is to help the homeless by providing emergency shelter especially during cold weather where they can get rest, take showers, launder clothing, and access other necessities.
The shelter is located at 656B West Broad Street and is open on a winter schedule every Monday and Saturday from 12 noon until 4 p.m.
