Lester charged with assault

A man will be in court next week on an assault charge.

According to Smithville Police, 33-year-old Allan Robert Lester of Students Home Road, was arrested on April 17 for assault. Police responded to 1222 South College Street due to a fight. The investigation revealed that Lester had gone to the victim’s home and before leaving, struck that person in the face and head leaving visible marks. Bond for Lester is $3,500 and his court date is May 5.

47-year-old Jimmy Mason Page of Old Snow Hill Road was arrested on April 15 for public intoxication. Police were summoned to Hardee’s due to a report of an intoxicated man there. Upon arrival, police confronted the man, Page who was erratic, scratching himself, and hallucinating. All signs indicated Page was under the influence. For the safety of himself and others, police arrested Page. Bond for Page is $1,500 and his court date is May 5.

Michael Robert Murray of Kentucky was arrested for DUI on April 17. While on patrol, police spotted a vehicle with no taillights fail to maintain its lane of travel. The officer pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Murray who had a strong odor of alcohol. His eyes were red and watery, and his speech was slurred. Murray submitted to field sobriety tasks but could not perform as he was unable to stand on his own. Bond for Murray is $3,500 and his court date is May 12.

37-year-old Hector Herrera Cruz of Campbell Lane was cited on April 20 for a driver’s license violation and for leaving the scene of an accident. On April 18 police were called to a hit and run in the Wal-Mart parking lot. A surveillance camera showed a grey Chevrolet 3500 Dually which backed into the passenger side, rear quarter panel of the victim’s car before driving off. Police could not determine whether the driver of the truck knew he had collided with the car. Two days later on April 20, Police spotted the truck and pulled it over. The driver, Cruz did not have a driver’s license. His court date is May 12.
