The following are special July 4 community calendar reminders:
*The Mike Foster Multipurpose Center will be closed Saturday July 4, 2020.
*The DeKalb County Clerk’s Office is the only elected office with Saturday hours but will be closed Saturday, July 4th for the holiday. When all other county offices are closed on Friday due to a holiday weekend, the County Clerk’s Office is also closed on Saturday but reopens the following Monday. However, when county offices are closed on Mondays for weekend holidays, the County Clerk’s Office is closed on the Saturday before that Monday but open on the Friday before that Monday.
*Justin Potter Library will be closed Saturday, July 4
*The Smithville Municipal Swimming Pool will be open Saturday, July 4 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
*No garbage pickup in the City of Smithville Friday, July 3 and Monday, July 6. All city Friday and Monday garbage routes will be run Tuesday, July 7
*Smithville City Hall to be Closed Monday, July 6
*All trash collection sites in Dekalb County will be closed Saturday July 4, 2020 in observance of Independence Day. Collection sites will reopen Sunday.
*No trash pickup in the City of Dowelltown on Saturday, July 4
*Two “Blood Assurance” drives are coming up in July.
The first blood drive will be Wednesday, July 8 at the Family Medical Center from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. located outside in the parking lot in the bloodmobile. The second drive will be Monday July 20 from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at the county complex senior citizen center inside the bloodmobile.

Save time on your donation by answering your health history questions the day of the blood donation before you arrive. Just download “bloodassurancequickscreen” on your phone.
All donors will be given a special beach towel or cooler tote bag and donors age 18 and older who donate two times this summer will be automatically entered to win a medium Big Green Egg and Eggcessories Grill.
Blood Assurance is the sole blood provider for the local hospitals and your donation is needed for an adequate supply.
