The Upperman Lady Bees claimed the championship of the District 8AA fastpitch softball tournament Thursday night after beating the DeKalb County Tigerettes twice, 7 to 3 and 2 to 0 in Baxter.
The season ended for the DeKalb County Tiger baseball team with an 8 to 2 loss to Livingston Academy in the District 8 AA tournament at Murfreesboro Wednesday evening.
The Tigers scored one run in the first inning and one run in the fourth inning
Livingston Academy scored four runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning.

DeKalb County High School's Cody Puckett has been named the District 8AA pitcher of the year.
Those named to the All-District Team from DeKalb County are Hunter Graham, Evan Curtis, Stephen Howell, and Devin Summers. Seth Stanley received honorable mention.

Cody Puckett, the winning pitcher, gave up five runs on seven hits through seven innings on the mound for the Tigers. Puckett struck out fifteen and walked three.

DeKalb County High School Baseball Coach Scott Odom will have to sit out the rest of the season.
DCHS Principal Patrick Cripps suspended Coach Odom this week based on allegations that a TSSAA regulation was violated when Little League umpires were scheduled for the DCHS game against Watertown Tuesday in Smithville. The Tigers won that game on senior night 8 to 7.
The DeKalb County Tigerettes will take on York Institute in the first round of the District 8AA softball tournament Friday at Upperman High School in Baxter. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
