The DeKalb County High School Basketball Teams will make their debut in the District 8 AA Tournament Monday night, February 13 at Tennessee Tech’s Hooper Eblen Center in Cookeville.
The DeKalb County Tigers and Lady Tigers were beaten on Senior Night by the visiting Macon County Tigers and Tigerettes.
The DC girls lost 51 to 41 and the Tigers were upended 81 to 43.
DCHS Softball Pitching sensation Kayley Caplinger, a senior, signed Tuesday with Cumberland University of Lebanon to play softball after she graduates here.
Cumberland is a member of the Mid-South Conference affiliated with the NAIA
Caplinger’s family, coaches, and fellow players were also there for the happy occasion.
The DeKalb County Tigers cruised to a 67 to 41 win over the Smith County Owls in Smithville Monday night but the Lady Tigers came up short losing 54 to 48 to the Owlettes.
The DCHS basketball teams swept both games against Gordonsville Saturday night on the road.
The Lady Tigers of DeKalb County won 38 to 28 while the Tigers rallied in the 4th period to come from behind and win 64 to 51.
The DCHS basketball teams lost at Upperman Friday night.
The Lady Tigers were defeated 68 to 23 while the Bees upended the Tigers 64 to 38.
In the girls game, Upperman led 17 to 5 after the 1st period, 36 to 15 at halftime, and 52 to 15 after the 3rd period before going on to beat DC 68 to 23.
Joni Robinson scored 12. Lydia Brown had 9 and Kenzie France with 2 points.
The DCHS Lady Tigers won a thriller in overtime over Livingston Academy Tuesday night in Smithville.
The final score was 53 to 51.
The Tigers lost to the Wildcats 59 to 47.
The DCHS basketball teams lost on the road at Cannon County Friday night.
The Lady Tigers were beaten 61 to 55 while the Tigers battled the Lions into overtime before coming up short 76 to 73.
The DCHS Tigers knocked off Trousdale County 60 to 45 Thursday night in a makeup game in Smithville.
The Tigers led 17 to 15 after the 1st period and 29 to 24 at halftime. DeKalb County trailed 41 to 38 after the 3rd period but rallied in the 4th period to win 60 to 45.
The DCHS basketball teams dropped both games to York Institute Tuesday night in Smithville.
The Lady Tigers lost 50 to 47 while the Tigers were defeated 53 to 37.
In the girls game, Hannah Panter scored 16. Emme Colwell 10. Lydia Brown 8. Macy Hedge 7 and Joni Robinson had 6 points.
