Tigerettes Finish Runners-Up in District Tournament

The Upperman Lady Bees won the district tournament softball championship Thursday, beating the DeKalb County Tigerettes 3 to 0 at Baxter.

As the runners-up in the district, the Tigerettes will travel to Sequatchie County for the first round of the region tournament Monday. Game time is 6:00 p.m.

In the game Thursday, Lauren Colwell, the losing pitcher, gave up three runs, two earned, on eight hits through six innings. She struck out one.

Two Tigerettes Sign with Covenant College

Brooke Hutchings Signs with Covenant College
Tiffini Hendrixson signs with Covenant College

Two Tigerettes will play collegiate softball after their high school career is finished.

Seniors Brooke Hutchings and Tiffini Hendrixson have signed to play for Coach Sara Russell at Covenant College, a Christian liberal arts college in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

Hendrixson and Hutchings were joined at the signing Thursday by members of their families and high school coaches Danny Bond and Lynus Martin

Coach Bond said "Hendrixson plays catcher for us and has batted in the fourth spot this season".

"Hutchings has played shortstop for us and batted from third to fifth in the lineup," he said

"Both girls are very deserving of this honor, getting to sign and further their playing experience in college," said Coach Bond. "These two girls have been a big part of what we have accomplished as a team this season," he added.

Covenant College is a member of the USA South Athletic Conference

Tigerettes to Battle Upperman for District Tournament Championship

The DeKalb County Tigerettes will have a re-match with the Upperman Lady Bees for the championship of the district tournament Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at Baxter.

The Tigerettes lost to Upperman 11 to 4 Wednesday afternoon, sending them to the loser's bracket where they met Livingston Academy, who had earlier eliminated Smith County from the tournament. DeKalb County defeated the Lady Wildcats 6 to 2.

DC trailed LA 2 to nothing after the second inning but tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Tigerettes scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5 to 2 lead and they added an insurance run in the sixth to seal the victory.

Lauren Colwell, the winning pitcher, gave up two runs on seven hits through seven innings. She struck out two and walked four.

Tigerettes Drop Into Losers Bracket of District Tournament

The DeKalb County Tigerettes dropped into the losers bracket of the District Tournament at Baxter Wednesday afternoon after losing to the Upperman Lady Bees 11 to 4.

DeKalb County scored three runs in the second inning and one run in the fourth inning. Upperman scored four runs in the first inning, three runs in the second, one run in the fifth, and three runs in the sixth inning.

Danielle Tyson, the losing pitcher, gave up seven runs on seven hits through two innings. She walked two. Lauren Colwell came in for three innings and gave up one earned run on five hits. She struck out one. Shauna Taylor pitched for one inning and gave up three runs, two earned on four hits. She struck out one.

Tigerettes Advance in District Tournament

The DCHS Tigerettes upended Livingston Academy 6 to 1 in their district tournament at Baxter Tuesday and will meet Upperman today (Wednesday) at 4:00 p.m. The winner will play for the championship of the tournament on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.

The Tigerettes scored one run in the second inning, three runs in the third, and two runs in the sixth inning. Livingston Academy scored one run in the second inning.

Tiger Baseball Season Ends in District Tournament

The season is over for the DeKalb County Tiger baseball team after losing to Smith County 9 to 6 and to Livingston Academy 17 to 9 Tuesday in the District Tournament at Smith County.

In the game with Smith County, the Tigers scored one run in the first inning, one run in the second, two runs in the third, and two runs in the sixth inning. The Owls scored four runs in the first inning, two runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth, and two runs in the sixth inning.

Steven Page, the losing pitcher, gave up seven runs, four earned, on eight hits through four innings. He struck out four and walked three. Devin Summers went two innings and gave up two runs, one earned, on one hit. He struck out four.

Stephen Howell, the losing pitcher, gave up nine runs, eight earned, on six hits. He struck out three and walked five through four and a third innings. John Roller went two innings and gave up seven runs, five earned, on nine hits. He struck out one. Chase Hoke went two thirds of an inning and gave up one run on two hits. He struck out one.

District Tournament Softball Games Rained Out Monday

The scheduled district tournament game between the DeKalb County Tigerettes and the Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats at Baxter was rained out Monday afternoon.

The game has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Tiger Coach Scott Odom Gets 300th Career Victory with District Tournament Win Over Central Magnet

The DeKalb County Tiger baseball team defeated Central Magnet 3 to 1 Saturday afternoon in their first round game of the District Tournament at the Smith County Athletic Complex in South Carthage. It was Coach Scott Odom's 300th career win.

The Tigers scored one run in the first inning and two runs in the sixth inning. Central Magnet scored one run in the second inning.

Cody Puckett, the winning pitcher, gave up one run on four hits and struck out six through seven innings.
