Gabriel Christian took DeKalb County to overtime before falling to the Tigers 78 to 73 Saturday night in Smithville. The Lady Tigers won easily 53 to 24.
In the boys game, DC trailed 14 to 13 after the first period and 27 to 22 at halftime, after being outscored 13 to 9 in the second period. DC took a 45 to 41 lead after the third period, outscoring the visitors 23 to 14. The game was tied at 65 apiece by the end of regulation as Gabriel Christian outscored the Tigers 24 to 20. DC won in overtime 78 to 73, outlasting the visitors 13 to 8.
Stephen Howell scored 30 points for the Tigers. Sonni Young had 18. Will Molander 12. Lucas Phillips 6. Ethan Roller and Eli Lomas each scored 5 and Braxton Howell added 2.
For the girls, DC led 19 to 4 after the first period and 27 to 8 at halftime, outscoring Gabriel Christian 8 to 4 in the second period. The Lady Tigers extended their lead in the third period, outscoring the visitors 9 to 6 to take a 36 to 14 lead into the fourth quarter. DC went onto win 53 to 24, outscoring Gabriel Christian 17 to 10 in the fourth period.
Samantha Sircy scored 11 points for DeKalb County. Loren Cripps had 9. Raye Baker and Alex Meadows each had 8. Chelsea Lewis 7. Ashley Barnes 4 and Chelsea Cantrell, Abbey Caldwell, and Danielle Tyson each scored 2.
