The DeKalb County Tigers defeated the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs 14 to 0 Thursday in the home opener in Smithville.
The game was called in the fifth inning due to the 10 run rule.
DeKalb County scored two runs in the first inning, two runs in the second, two runs in the third, and eight runs in the fourth inning.
Hunter Graham pitched a shutout through four innings and gave up three hits. He struck out seven and walked one. McCullough Wallace came in for one inning and recorded two strikeouts.
Shane Salley had two doubles, a homerun, two runs batted in, and a stolen base. Tyler Kent, a single, double, and two RBI. Destry Wiggins, a double. Corey Atnip, an RBI. Tyler Caldwell had two singles and an RBI. Hunter Graham had a double and two RBI.
The Tigers, now 1 and 1, will travel to Lafayette today (Friday) to take on the Macon County Tigers at 5:00 p.m.
In the season opener on Tuesday, March 16th, the DeKalb County Tigers lost at Eagleville 9 to 6.
Eagleville scored five runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning, and one run in the third.
DeKalb County scored two runs in the second inning, one run in the third, one run in the fifth, and two runs in the sixth inning.
Garret Hoke, the losing pitcher, gave up eight runs. He struck out three and walked four. Shane Salley, the relief pitcher, gave up one run. He struck out four and walked two.
