The DeKalb County Tigers cruised to a 63 to 36 victory in their district opener against York Institute Friday night in Smithville while the Lady Tigers lost 49 to 42 to the Lady Dragons.
The Tigers led 17 to 7 after the first period, 33 to 14 at halftime, and 47 to 27 after the third period before going on to win 63 to 36.
Stephen Howell and Sonni Fullilove shared high scoring honors with 18 points each. Ethan Roller had 8. Lucas Phillips and Braxton Atnip each with 5, Eli Lomas 4, Aaron Patterson 3, and Justin Bone with 2 points.
The Lady Tigers trailed 16 to 4 after the first period of their game. York Institute led 33 to 16 at halftime and 38 to 27 after the third period before defeating DeKalb County 49 to 42.
Chelsea Lewis scored 16 for the Lady Tigers. Loren Cripps 13. Paige Winningham had 9 and Abbey Caldwell and Ashli Chew each had 2 points.
The Tigers are now 8-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. The Lady Tiger record is 7-2 and 0-1 in the district. DeKalb County travels to Livingston Academy Tuesday night, December 4. WJLE will broadcast the games LIVE starting with the girls contest at 6:00 p.m.
