The DeKalb County High School Tiger baseball team pounded Livingston Academy, 11-4, Monday evening in Livingston, and moved a step closer to clinching second place in the final regular season standings.
Trey Finley shut out the Wildcats for the first four innings, as the Tigers built an 8-0 lead. DC plated four runs in the top of the third and three more runs in the fourth. Livingston put up two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but DeKalb answered with three more runs in the top of the sixth, which all but put the game away. The Wildcats tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Tigers won the game easily.
Finley allowed four runs, two earned, through the seven full innings. He gave up three hits, struck out ten, walked six and hit a batter. He improved to 4-3 on the mound, this season.
At the plate, Zack Rowland led the Tigers' 11-hit attack with three singles, a double and an RBI. Bray Page hit his fourth home run of the season and had one RBI. Cody Atnip had two doubles and an RBI, while Corey Atnip had two singles and an RBI. Destry Wiggins had an RBI single, while Colt Stewart rounded out the attack with a single.
The Tigers will host the Wildcats, Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. A win would clinch second place in the final regular season standings. WJLE plans live coverage.
