The DeKalb County Tigers kept their perfect district record intact with a 35-16 win at Macon County Friday night.
The Tigers scored three touchdowns in the first half, the first of which came on a 35 yard run by Devonta Milan in the opening period. Matthew Poss converted on the extra point and the black and gold Tigers led 7-0.
Later in the period, Luke Boss gave the Tigers a two touchdown advantage on a 25 yard scoring run. The extra point by Poss was good and DeKalb County was on top 14-0.
A.J. Mooneyham scored on a three yard touchdown run in the second period. Poss's extra point try was good and the black and gold Tigers pushed their lead to 21-0.
Macon County got its first points of the night in the third period on a 28 yard touchdown run by Dalton Driver. The extra point by Mason Doss was good and DeKalb County's lead was cut to 21-7.
The Tigers of Lafayette drew closer later in the third period on a 33 yard field goal by Mason Doss and DeKalb County's lead shrunk to 21-10.
Luke Boss scored his second touchdown of the night on a one yard run in the fourth period. Poss connected on the P.A.T. and DeKalb County extended its lead to 28-10.
DeKalb County's last touchdown of the game came on a 26 yard touchdown run by Devonta Milan. The Poss P.A.T. was good and the black and gold Tigers went up 35-10.
Macon County scored on a touchdown pass in the last play of the game but DeKalb County won 35-16.
DeKalb County is now 6-2 overall and 4-0 in district play. Next week, the Tigers travel to Baxter to take on the undefeated Upperman Bees who are 8-0 and also 4-0 in the district. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
