Knox Central, KY shot 73-percent from the floor, and shook off a DeKalb County comeback attempt in an 85-67 rout at the Monticello Holiday Tournament in Monticello, KY. The loss was the second in as many days against a Kentucky opponent for the Tigers.
The Panthers rolled up a 15-2 lead within the first three minutes of the game, and built a 35-12 lead at the end of the opening period, spurred on by six three-pointers. The Tigers battled back in the second period, pulling to within ten in the last minute of the half, and ended the half trailing by only eight points, at 45-37.
Knox Central opened the third period with 15 unaswered points, and blew the game open by the end of the period. The Panthers led 76-45 at the end of the third, and rolled on to the win despite DeKalb County taking a 22-9 advantage in the fourth period.
J.J. Herriott scored 15 points to lead the Tigers, while Travis Woodward added 13. Jacob Scalf led Knox Central and all scorers with 21 points.
DeKalb County, now 6-6 on the season, will wrap up play in the Monticello Tournament on Saturday, when they play Clinton, TN in a consolation bracket game. Tip-off will be 12:30 p.m. central time.
