The DeKalb County Tigers crushed the Chattanooga Christian Chargers 71 to 28 in the first round of the Region 4AA basketball tournament Saturday night in Smithville.
The Tigers led 26 to 10 after the first period, 42 to 20 at halftime, and 59 to 22 after the third period before going on to win easily 71 to 28
Ethan Roller led the Tigers in scoring with 19. Braxton Atnip 15, Sonni Fullilove 14. Zach Vincent 8. Aaron Patterson 7. Stephen Howell 6 and Lucas Phillips with 2.
DeKalb County advances to the semi-finals of the region tournament Tuesday night to take on Bledsoe County at 7:30 p.m. at Sequatchie County High School in Dunlap. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.

In other region tournament boys games, Livingston Academy crushed Grundy County 100 to 51 and Upperman topped Signal Mountain 74 to 57. Livingston Academy will meet Upperman in the semi-finals Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The championship game will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
In the girls region tournament, Upperman defeated Bledsoe County 55 to 48, Cannon County over Chattanooga Christian 64 to 47, Livingston Academy beat Grundy County 66 to 42, and York Institute over Notre Dame 56 to 41.
The semi-finals will be played Monday night featuring Livingston Academy versus York Institute at 6:00 p.m. and Upperman against Cannon County at 7:30 p.m. The girls tournament championship game will be Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
