The DeKalb County Tigers advanced to the semi-finals of the district tournament with a 55 to 29 win over Central Magnet Tuesday night at Sparta. Sonni Young scored 20 points in the game and went over 1,000 points for his career at DCHS. He now has 1007 points as a Tiger.
The Tigers, now 24-5 overall, will face the winner of the Upperman/York Institute matchup on Friday at 5:30 p.m. WJLE willl have LIVE coverage. The Bees and Dragons will face off Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
DC led 20 to 4 after the first period and held a 37 to 10 advantage by halftime, outscoring Central Magnet 17 to 6 in the second period. The Tigers outscored their opponents 8 to 6 in the third and led 45 to 16 after three. Central Magnet outscored DC 13 to 10 in the fourth but the Tigers won 55 to 29.
In addition to Sonni Young's 20 points, Braxton Atnip scored 8, Aaron Patterson 7, Lucas Phillips and Braxton Howell each with 6, Ethan Roller 5, and Zach Vincent with 3.
The Lady Tigers will meet Cannon County in the district tournament Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage. The district tournament is being held this week at the White County High School in Sparta.
