The DeKalb County High School Tigerette fast-pitch softball team lost their first district game, Friday afternoon in Lafayette, as the Macon County Tigerettes handed the local team a 2-1 setback.
The Tigerettes scored a run in the top of the second inning on an RBI double by Victoria Bennett, and the 1-0 lead held up until Macon County scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. DeKalb County could not answer, as the hosts held on for the one-run victory.
Shay Sullivan took the pitching loss for the Tigerettes, as she pitched six innings, allowed two runs on four hits and struck out three. DeKalb County committed one error.
At the plate, the Tigerettes had five hits, led by Kara Young with two singles. Bennett had a double, while Cynthia Woodward and Kayla Fish each had a single.
The Tigerettes fall to 6-2 overall, and to 3-1 in district play. DeKalb County will play at Warren County, Monday evening at 5:00 p.m.
