The DeKalb County High School Tiger golf team set a new program record in their match victory over Upperman, Thursday at Southern Hills Golf Course.
The Tigers shot a 142 in their nine-hole match victory, which was 24 strokes better than the Bees, who came in with a 166. Payne Denman shot a 34 to lead DC, followed by Grant James and Austin Garrett, each with a 35. Logan Clark rounded out the Tiger score with a career-best 38.
Shay Sullivan equalled her career-best score of 34 on Thursday, which she set just two days earlier at Windtree, but the Lady Tigers' match did not count since Upperman had only one player. Kalli Mitchell was next in line for the DC girls with a 50, while Keeli Bullard shot a 62.
The DCHS golf teams will participate in the Baylor Invitational Tournament at Black Creek, next Monday and Tuesday. The tournament will feature 18 holes of golf each day, and will start promptly, both days, at 9:00 a.m.
