The DeKalb County High School Tiger golf team won their third straight District Tournament championship, Tuesday, at White Plains Golf Course in Cookeville. The Tigers shot a 299, which gave them a 16-stroke victory over Jackson County, who finished second with a 315.
Tiger junior, Austin Garrett, meanwhile, won the top individual medalist award, as he shot a 70 to edge teammate and defending tournament champ, Payne Denman, by a single stroke. Denman finished in second place with a 71, while Grant James claimed the third place medal with a 74. Logan Clark rounded out the Tiger team score with an 84.
Livingston Academy finished third among the teams with a 320, and will join the Tigers and the Blue Devils at the Region Tournament in Springfield, next Monday.
The Tigers improve their overall match record to 34-18 on the season.
