The DeKalb County 10-11 year old Senior Tigers won the Middle Tennessee Youth Football Conference Championship, this past Saturday, as they shut out top seed and previously unbeaten Smith County, 25-0, in Livingston. The win gave the Senior Tiger program their sixth conference championship in the past eight years.
Ethan Roller threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Braxton Howell on fourth down and eight, late in the first quarter, which started the offensive onslaught for DeKalb County. Roller ran for two more scores, while Steven Howell ran in for another.
Defensively, the Senior Tigers disrupted Smith County's game plan the entire night, and held the Chargers to negative yardage through most of the contest. Roller led the defensive attack with eight tackles.
The Senior Tigers finish the season 8-1, and avenged their only loss of the regular season, as Smith County eked past DeKalb, 13-12, back in September. The Senior Tiger program is 68-8 since 2000, with six championships and eight title game appearances.
