DeKalb County and Smith County battled into overtime before the Owls pulled out a 53 to 50 victory over the Tigers Saturday night in Carthage. The Lady Tigers lost their game 55 to 38.
In the boys game, the Tigers trailed 15 to 13 after the first period but grabbed a 24 to 23 lead by halftime. The Owls had the edge 35 to 34 after the third period but the game was tied at 45 each by the end of the fourth period. In the overtime, Smith County outscored DeKalb County eight to five and won 53 to 50.
Justin Bone and Eli Lomas each scored 16 points. Steven Jennings 9. Austin Frazier 6 and Ethan Roller, Aaron Patterson, and Kaleb Ferrell each had 1 point.
For the girls, Smith County led 17 to 2 after the first period, 27 to 11 at halftime, and 41 to 27 after the third period before winning 55 to 38.

DeKalb County will host York Institute Tuesday night in Smithville and starting with the girls game at 6:00 p.m.
