Macon County Dominates in 55-14 Blow-Out Win Over Tigers

The Macon County Tigers won the battle of the cats Friday night scoring eight touchdowns enroute to a 55 to 14 blow-out win over the DeKalb County Tigers on Senior Night in Smithville.

With the loss, DeKalb County falls to 2-6 on the season while Macon County improves to 3-4.

Macon County's Zack Shockley scored the first points of the night on an eleven yard touchdown run. Carson Cook converted on the extra point and the visitors led 7-0 with 9:19 left in the first period.

Dallas Grace gave Macon County a two touchdown lead with 2:44 left in the first period on a one yard touchdown run. Cook's extra point was good and the score was 14-0.

Zack Shockley scored his second touchdown of the night on a five yard run with 10:06 left in the second period. Cook's extra point was good and Macon County held a 21-0 advantage.

DeKalb County's Eli Lomas got the Tigers on the board with 7:18 left in the second period. Lomas caught a six yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lucas Phillips. Zach Taylor converted on the P.A.T and Macon County's lead was cut to 21-7.

With 5:40 to go in the second period, Zack Shockley scored his third touchdown on a one yard run. Cook's P.A.T. was good and Macon County expanded it's lead to 28-7.

Macon County added two more touchdowns before halftime, including a four yard run by Jesse Newberry with 57 seconds left; and a 35 yard intereception return by Dallas Grace with 13 seconds to go. Cook converted each time on the extra point and the score at halftime 42-7 in favor of Macon County.

The visitors scored twice more in the second half, including a five yard touchdown run by Shane Hesson with 4:44 left in the third; and a nine yard run by William Bandy with 6:11 to go in the fourth period. Cook converted one extra point and missed on the other but Macon County had built an insurmountable 55-7 lead.

DeKalb County added a late touchdown on a 25 yard pass play from quarterback Lucas Phillips to Dillon Brown. The extra point by Zach Taylor was good but DCHS fell 55-14 for their fifth straight loss of the season.

Next week, DeKalb County travels to Baxter to take on the Upperman Bees. Kick-off will be at 7:00 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
