The DCHS basketball teams dropped a pair of district games to Livingston Academy Tuesday night in Smithville. The Lady Tigers lost 70 to 58 and the Tigers fell 64 to 49.
For the girls, Livingston Academy led 19 to 8 after the first period and 34 to 18 at halftime, outscoring DC 15 to 10 in the second period. The Lady Wildcats won the third quarter 21 to 16 and led 55 to 34 heading into the final period. From there the Lady Tigers outscored their district foes 24 to 15 but lost 70 to 58.
Alex Meadows led the Lady Tiger attack with 18 points followed by Chelsea Lewis with 16, Ashley Barnes 8, Abbey Caldwell, Raye Baker, and Loren Cripps each with 3, and Lydia Foutch and Danielle Tyson each with 2.
In the boys game Livingston Academy led 13 to 9 after the first period but fell behind 25 to 23 by halftime as the Tigers outscored the Wildcats 16 to 10 in the second period. Livingston Academy regained the lead in the third period, outscoring the Tigers 20 to 6 for a 43 to 31 advantage as the game entered the fourth quarter. The Wildcats went on to win 64 to 49, outscoring DC 21 to 18 in the final period.
Braxton Atnip had 14 for the Tigers followed by Stephen Howell with 13, Sonni Young 8, Ethan Roller and Eli Lomas each with 3 points and Zach Vincent, Braxton Howell, Will Molander, and Lucas Phillips each with 2 points.
DeKalb County will host Smith County Friday night in Smithville. Action begins with the girls game at 6:00 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
