The DeKalb County Lady Tigers knocked off the visiting Gordonsville Tigerettes 53 to 49 Tuesday night in Smithville, but the Black and Gold Tigers lost the boys game 76 to 70.
In the girls contest, Gordonsville led 13 to 10 after the first period and 26 to 23 at halftime, as each team scored 13 points in the second period. Gordonsville maintained it's three point edge at the end of the third quarter 33 to 30, as both teams scored seven points in the period. But in the fourth quarter, DeKalb County outscored the visitors 23 to 16 and won the game by four points, 53 to 49.
Martha Webb led the team in scoring with 18 points. Cynthia Woodward had 14, Brooke Hutchings with 9, Alex Meadows 8, Mercedes Luna 3, and Kristina Stephens had 1 points.
In the boys game, Gordonsville led 22 to 17 after the first period. DeKalb County drew closer in the second period, outscoring the visitors 22 to 18 but still trailed by one, 40 to 39 at halftime. Gordonsville fell behind 59 to 50 by the end of the third quarter as the home team outscored them 20 to 10. But in the fourth quarter, Gordonsville outpaced DeKalb County 26 to 11 to get the lead and the win.
Seth Willoughby led the Tigers in scoring with 28 points. Payne Denman had 13. Abram Edwards Sonni Young, and Destry Wiggins each had 7. Hunter Poteete 5, and Cody Puckett with 3 points.
The Lady Tigers improve to 14 and 8 on the season while the Tigers drop to 13 and 9. DeKalb County travels to Manchester Thursday night to take on Coffee County starting with the girls game at 6:00 p.m.
