Daniel Stanley and Andrew Atnip were named Co-Most Valuable Players for the 2007-08 DeKalb Middle School Saints basketball team, while Brooke Hutchings and Jessica Garrison earned Co-MVP honors for the Lady Saints. The honors were handed out Thursday night during the annual DMS basketball banquet at the Smithville First United Methodist Church Christian Fellowship Center. Meanwhile, Kidman Puckett was named Most Valuable Cheerleader for the past season.
Coaches Josh Agee and Joey Agee of the Saints and Lady Saints teams, along with cheerleading coach, Anita Puckett, gave out the awards to their respective teams at the banquet.
Stanley was also the recipient of the Best Offensive Player and Best Passer Awards, while Atnip claimed the Best Rebounder award. Other Saints team awards went to Alex Cripps, Best Sixth Man; Cody Puckett, Best Ball-Handler; Sebastian Phillips, Most Improved; and Wesley Mason, Best Defensive Player and the Hustle Award.
Hutchings also claimed the Best Defensive Player award for the Lady Saints, while Garrison earned the Best Rebounder plaque. Other Lady Saints awards went to Chelsea Lewis, Best Passer and Hardest Worker; Cori Jennings, Most Improved and Best Ball-Handler; Lydia Foutch and Abbey Caldwell, Co-Best Sixth Man Awards; Chelsea Cantrell, the Coaches' Award; and Loren Foster, Best Offensive Player and Best Free Throw Shooter.
Other cheerleading awards went to Heather Hughes, Best All Around; Tessa Thomas, Most Spirited; Lela Ambrose, Best Jumps; and Zoe Whaley, Most Improved.
