The District 7-AA Baseball Tournament is slated to begin on Thursday, with a pair of games in the play-in round.
The DeKalb County Tiger baseball team, the number-two seed, will host seventh-seeded Cannon County at 5:30 p.m. in the first official game of the tournament. WJLE plans live coverage from the DCHS Baseball Field. The winners in the play-in round move on to the double-elimination portion of the tournament, which begins Monday in Baxter.
Fourth-seeded Macon County will take on fifth-seeded Livingston Academy, Thursday at 6:00 p.m. while third-seeded Smith County is scheduled to battle sixth-seeded York Institute, Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. Play-in round games are at the site of the higher seeds.
Top-seeded Upperman has a bye for the play-in round, and will automatically move into the double-elimination portion of the tournament. The Bees will play the Macon County-Livingston winner, Monday at 7:00 p.m.
The winner between the Tigers and Cannon County will take on the Smith County-York Institute winner, Monday at 4:30 p.m.
The loser's bracket semi-final will be Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. with the winner's bracket final to follow at 7:00 p.m. The loser's bracket final is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. and the championship game will be Thursday at 5:00 p.m. A second and deciding game, if necessary, will be played immediately following the first championship game.
All games in the double-elimination portion of the tournament will be played at Upperman High School in Baxter.
