The DeKalb County 13 & 14 year old Jr. League All-Stars were eliminated from the State Tournament in South Holston, TN, on Sunday, as they were dealt an 8-3 setback by Eagleton. DeKalb County lost their first game in the tournament to Donelson, 16-1, on Saturday.
Chris Powell got DeKalb County on the board early in their loss, Sunday, with an RBI single, but the local team would not add any more runs to their total until the sixth inning, when Daniel Stanley ripped a two-run triple. By that point, however, Eagleton had built a comfortable lead. Dillon Roller took the loss on the mound for DeKalb County, as he pitched four innings and struck out two batters. Powell added a double at the plate, while Cody Puckett, Stephen Howell and Quentin Cook each had one single.
In Saturday's game, Donelson scored the game's first 15 runs, and DeKalb County finally got on the board on an RBI double by Roller late in the game. Roller added a single, while Puckett and Evan Curtis also added one single apiece. Puckett took the loss on the mound, as he started, worked the first four innings, and struck out two batters.
DeKalb County won the District 2 Tournament title last week, and were runners-up in the Jr. League State Tournament in 2007.
