The DeKalb County High School basketball teams were eliminated from the District 8AA tournament in Sparta Thursday night bringing their season to an end.
The Lady Tigers lost to Central Magnet of Murfreesboro 58 to 54 while the Tigers were beaten by the Cannon County Lions 79 to 52.
In the girls game, DC trailed 7 to 0 after the first period, 25 to 18 at halftime, and 38 to 28 after the third period, before losing 58 to 54.
Loren Cripps scored 20 points. McKenzie Poteete had 15. Paige Winningham 10. Jailyn Bolding 4, and Morgan Pedigo with 3 points.
In the boys game, the Tigers trailed 10 to 5 after the first period, 38 to 14 at halftime, and 57 to 29 after the third period, before losing 79 to 52.
Aaron Patterson scored 13. Steven Jennings 11. Justin Bone 10. Ethan Roller 5. Austin Frazier 3, Kaleb Ferrell, Jonathon Munoz, and Gentry Harpole each with 2, and Seth Wright with 1 point.
The Lady Tigers close out the season with an overall record of 20-14 and 4-10 in the district. The Tigers finished at 16-14 overall and 4-10 in district play.
