DeKalb 11 & 12 Year Old All-Stars Win in State Tournament

The DeKalb County 11 & 12 year old All Stars defeated the Johnson City Nationals 3 to 1 Saturday evening to claim their first victory in the state baseball tournament at Erwin, Tennessee.

Johnson City scored one run in the first inning. DeKalb County scored one run in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth to get the win.

A.J. Mooneyham, the winning pitcher, went five innings. He gave up one run on three hits. Mooneyham struck out nine and walked one. Cason Oakley came in for the last inning and struck out one and walked one.

Cason Oakley had two singles in the game and an RBI while Lane Davenport had an RBI single. Sam McMillen, Dusty Griffith, and Dylan Stover each drew a base on balls and Mooneyham had an RBI.

DeKalb County will meet Lexington in the next round of the state tournament on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. (eastern), 5:00 p.m. central. The tournament is scheduled to go through August 1st.
