The DCHS basketball teams picked up a pair of road wins Friday night at Monterey.
The Lady Tigers ran their record to 5-0 with a 61 to 58 victory over the Lady Wildcats while the Tigers went to 4-1 with a 73 to 50 win over their opponents.
The DC girls led 10 to 2 after the first period and 28 to 22 at halftime, though they were outscored 20 to 18 in the second period. The Lady Wildcats edged DC 14 to 13 in the third period and trailed 41 to 36. The Lady Tigers were outscored in the fourth period 22 to 20 but had enough to win by three, 61 to 58.
Chelsea Lewis had 20 points for the Lady Tigers. Raye Baker scored 16, Alex Meadows 10, Abbey Caldwell 7, Loren Cripps 5, and Lydia Foutch with 3.
The Tigers led throughout, outscoring Monterey 23 to 16 in the first quarter. Each team scored 12 points in the second period and DC led at halftime 35 to 28. The Tigers outscored the Wildcats 19 to 8 in the third period to take a 54 to 36 lead into the fourth quarter. DC went on to win 73 to 50, outscoring Monterey 19 to 14 in the fourth period.
Braxton Atnip scored 16. Stephen Howell 12. Will Molander 11, Ethan Roller 9, Sonni Young 6, Andrew Atnip 4, Braxton Howell 3, Lucas Phillips 3, Eli Lomas, Justin Bone, Zach Vincent, and Austin Frazier each with 2, and Dylan Young with 1.
DeKalb County will host Webb Tuesday night, November 29 and open district play at York Institute on Friday, December 2.
