The DCHS golf teams competed in the Upper Cumberland Classic in Cookeville on Monday.
Coach Joe Pat Cope said the boys finished in fourth place while the girls came in second. "We went to the Upper Cumberland Classic in Cookeville on Monday. They had twenty seven boys teams and twenty one girls teams. Our boys came in fourth out of a field of twenty seven. They were defeated by three Triple-A schools, Sparta, Cookeville, and Walker Valley. They (Tigers) defeated everybody else in the field which included Livingston, our biggest rival in the district. They (Tigers) beat Livingston by twenty one strokes Monday. We had four golfers shoot in the 70s which was Ethan Roller, Zach Martin, Hayden Ervin, and Tevin Owens. The Tigers, on the year, are now 21-5," said Coach Cope
"On the girls side, there were twenty one teams and our girls came in second place. They lost to Walker Valley by one shot. Mallory Sullivan shot a 73 and Callie Mitchell shot a 79. Our girls on the season are 25-1 and are playing real well. The girls have a shot to go to the state this year. Mallory went last year. As a team, they are playing really well. Callie has really worked on her game in the off season," said Coach Cope
The DCHS golf teams will play at Sparta today (Tuesday) and at Livingston Academy on Thursday.
