The DeKalb County Lady Tigers defeated York Institute 49 to 32 but the Tigers came up short against the Dragons 44 to 42 in Smithville Thursday night.
In the girls game, DeKalb County trailed 8 to 7 after the first period but battled back for a 19 to 15 halftime lead. The Lady Tigers extended the lead to 31 to 24 by the end of the third period and went on to win 49 to 32.
Paige Winningham had 24 points. Morgan Pedigo and Loren Cripps each scored 10 points and Jailyn Bolding scored 5.
In the boys game, the Tigers were behind 17 to 6 after the first period but rallied for a 22 to 20 lead by halftime. The Dragons held a 34 to 33 lead after the third period and held on for a 44 to 42 win.
Steven Jennings and Justin Bone each scored 14 points. Ethan Roller had 9. Austin Frazier 3 and Kaleb Ferrell with 2 points.
DeKalb County will be at Livingston Academy Friday night, January 10 starting with the girls game at 6:00 p.m.
