The DCHS basketball teams split with the visiting Webb Feet of Bell Buckle Tuesday night in Smithville with the Tigers winning 55 to 21 and the Lady Tigers falling 57 to 51.
In the girls game, DC trailed 10 to 9 after the first period and 24 to 17 at halftime, being outscored 14 to 8 in the second period. Webb outscored DC 13 to 10 in the third quarter and led 37 to 27. The Lady Tigers drew closer in the fourth quarter, outscoring Webb 24 to 20 but fell short, losing 57 to 51.
Alex Meadows and Chelsea Lewis shared high scoring honors for DC with 16 points each. Danielle Tyson scored 7, Lydia Foutch 6, Abbey Caldwell 3, Raye Baker 2, and Loren Cripps with 1 point.
The Tigers stomped the Feet in their game, winning 55 to 21.
DC led 16 to 5 after the first period and 36 to 11 at halftime, outscoring Webb 20 to 6 in the second period. DC continued its dominance in the third period, outscoring the Feet 13 to 4 to take a 49 to 15 advantage into the fourth period. From there, the Tigers cruised to a 55 to 21 win, as each team scored six points in the final period.
Sonni Young led the Tigers in scoring with 14 points followed by Stephen Howell with 11, Braxton Howell 7, Braxton Atnip 6, Ethan Roller and Eli Lomas each with 3, Aaron Patterson, Justin Bone, Zach Vincent, Andrew Atnip, and Lucas Phillips each with 2 points and Will Molander with 1.
DeKalb County will open district play at York Institute Friday night, December 2 starting with the girls game at 6:00 p.m. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
