The DeKalb County Tigers got back to their winning ways Friday night with a 30 to 14 victory at Hixson.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 5-1 overall.
Neither team scored in the first period but DC got on the board on the first play of the second quarter. Cody Puckett recovered a Wildcat turnover in the endzone for a touchdown. Zach Taylor converted on the P.A.T. and the Tigers led 7-0.
DC struck again with 7:01 left in the second period on a 35 yard touchdown run by quarterback Lucas Phillips. Taylor converted on the P.A.T. and the Tigers led 14-0
Justin Mathieson gave the Wildcats their first points of the night on a two yard touchdown run with 3:45 left in the second period. The P.A.T. was good and Hixson cut the Tiger lead to 14-7.
DC quarterback Lucas Phillips hooked up with Will Molander on a sixteen yard touchdown pass play with 1:06 left in the second period. Taylor's P.A.T was good and the Tigers led 21-7.
With 4:10 to go in the third period, Zach Taylor converted on a 45 yard field goal to give DC a 24-7 lead.
Hixson's Zach Jimerson scored on a ten yard touchdown run with 2:24 left in the third. The P.A.T. was good and the Wildcats trailed 24-14.
The Tigers' last touchdown of the night came on a one yard run by Cody Puckett with 11:20 left in the fourth period. The P.A.T. try by Taylor was no good but DeKalb County went on to win 30-14.
Next week, the Tigers will travel to Jamestown to face the York Institute Dragons. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
