DC Defeats Gabriel Christian in Hall of Fame Play Day

The DCHS Tigers and Lady Tigers defeated Gabriel Christian in the Hall of Fame Play Day Saturday in Smithville.

The Lady Tigers won easily 79 to 17 while the Tigers edged the visitors 69 to 67

The girls game was never in doubt as the Lady Tigers led 27 to 0 after the first period and 43 to 4 at halftime. DC held a 62 to 13 lead after the third period and went on to win 79 to 17

Scoring for the Lady Tigers were Alex Meadows with 15, Raye Baker 12, Chelsea Cantrell 11, Chelsea Lewis and Abbey Caldwell each with 9, Haley Hale 5, Ashley Barnes 4, Kayna Caplinger 3, and Danielle Tyson and Samantha Sircy each with 2.

In the boys meeting with Gabriel Christian, the Tigers led 17 to 11 after the first period and 38 to 29 at halftime, outscoring the visitors 21 to 18 in the second quarter. DC led 50 to 44 after the third period, though Gabriel Christian outscored them 15 to 12. The Tigers were outpaced in the fourth quarter 23 to 19 but hung on to win 69 to 67.

Braxton Atnip led the Tigers with 25 points followed by Sonni Young with 15, Stephen Howell 8, Eli Lomas and Dylan Young each with 6, Braxton Howell 5, and Andrew Atnip 4
