All-Stars set to open tournament play, July 5th

DeKalb County’s Little League All-Star teams will soon be taking part in the annual tournaments, which start in full swing on July 5th. The 2010 All-Star teams were announced last Tuesday night, along with their coaches and where they will be playing, this post-season.

The 9-10 year old Machine Pitch team will be playing in Smithville in the first round, July 5th, 6th and 8th. DeKalb County will open play on Monday, July 5th at 6:00 p.m against Sparta. The team will be made up of John Maynard, Derrick Young, Luke Oliver, Logan Cornelius, Conner Pruitt, Luke Bryant, James Stephens, Skylar Sparks, Hunter Jennings, Josh Carlton and Keaton Bond. The team will be coached by Russell Oliver.

The 9-10 year old Player Pitch team will open play in Lebanon on July 5th, against Smith County. Their tournament will continue on July 6th and 7th. The members of the team include Brayden Hart, Brady Hughes, Seth Whaley, Marshall Evins, Tyree Cripps, Austin Johnson, Christian Pruitt, Ethan Martin, Tanner Poss, Grayson Redmon, Colter Norris and Noah Gill. The team will be coached by Darrell Gill.

The 11-12 year old Little League All-Stars will open play on Monday, July 5th, at 8:00 p.m. in Lebanon, the site of this year’s Area Tournament. The DeKalb Little League All-Star team is made up of Dusty Griffith, Sam McMillen, Lane Davenport, Jacob Washer, Joey Moon, Austin Brown, A.J. Mooneyham, Charlie Young, Cason Oakley, Seth Wright, Noah Parsley and Dylan Stover. The team will be coached by Jeff Young. The tournament will continue July 6th and 7th in Lebanon.

The DeKalb County 13-14 year old Junior League All-Star team is made up of Joe Driver, Ty Curtis, Devin Summers, Aaron Patterson, Eli Gill, Seth Stanley, Chase Hoke, Stephen Page, Travis Ferrell, Tyler Monette, Evan Cripps and Spencer Stanfield. The Junior League All-Stars will play in Smith County, July 5th through July 10th, with their first game to be against host, Smith County, on July 5th, at 6:00 p.m. The team will be coached by Steve Page.

An 11-year-old All-Star team was also named, but due to a lack of available players for the tournament play, the team will not participate in the tournament in Portland. Those selected to be on the 11-year-old team were Jordan Whitehead, Adam Ferrell, Lakota Luna, Matthew Judkins, Adam Whitecotton, Gentry Harpole, Laradon Wiggins, Isaiah Jones, Caleb Stanley, Josh Hembree, Casey Taylor and Matthew Wright.
