69 year old Charles Wayne Herndon of Smithville died Thursday at his residence. He was a member of the Church of God and he worked for the Labor Unions. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Chuck Overton will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 2-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Herndon was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Vada Carter Herndon; a great granddaughter, Adrianna Murphy, and father-in-law, Charlie Young. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Young Herndon and a son, Brandon Herndon both of Smithville. Five daughters, Tarron and Robert Carter of Dowelltown, Vickie Cobble of McMinnville, Penny and Luther Murphy of Smithville, Sonya Cantrell of McMinnville, and Pamela Curtis of Smithville. Eight grandchildren, Zel Carter of Dowelltown, Nacole Cobble, Justin Murphy, and Patrick Murphy all of Smithville, and Clent Cantrell and Dustin Herndon both McMinnville, Stephanie Burgess of Tullahoma and Jennifer Coffee of Dowelltown, Thirteen great grandchildren. Brother, Ricky Herndon of Smithville. Mother-in-law, Gladys Pinegar Young of Smithville. Three brothers-in-law, Larry Wayne and Patricia Young, Charles and Keisha Farless Young and Stevie Young all of Smithville. Two sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Matthew Robinson of Murfreesboro and Annette and Gary Sells of Gallatin. Several nieces and nephews all survive.
