75 year old Jewell Brown Ferrell of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church and a retired construction worker. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Ricky Arnold will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie J. and Annie Green Colwell Ferrell; children, Gary \"Pony\" Ferrell and Dennis Ferrell; brothers, Charlie and Alfred Ferrell; and sisters, Lucille Scott and Nancy Jean Ferrell. Survivors include his wife, Jobyna Ferrell of Smithville. Seven sons, Larry, Charles, Chris, Jeff, Terry, and Scott Ferrell all of Smithville and Wayne Ferrell of Woodland. Four step-sons, Ricky Devault and Tony Devault both of Smithville and Greg and Todd Strange both of Warren County. Sisters, Emma Corbitt and Myrtle McQuerry both of Lebanon and Christine Johnson of Smithville. Ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
